A post on the organization’s Facebook page detailed the rescue mission:

“This morning 60 dogs and 10 cats rescued from the life-threatening Louisiana floods arrived in Atlanta! AHS was part of a rescue group that transported the animals left homeless and in danger of perishing. After the trauma of the flooding and the transport, the animals will be settled in and kept at our partner VCA Animal Hospitals for several days. AHS veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Morris, DVM and a team of AHS veterinarians and will perform examinations and provide medical treatment if necessary. Some of the dogs will be transported to an AHS shelter partner in Ohio, some of the remaining pets will be moved to AHS for care and adoption, and the remaining pets will be transported to other AHS shelter partners. Multiple shelters will help ensure they are adopted into loving homes quickly. Check back here for updates on when the pets will be available for adoption! They will all need good, caring homes after all they have been through.”
