“Spider-Man” films right next to where “Captain America” did

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” has been filming in Atlanta for a while now and has a few more weeks to go. I visited the set yesterday for interviews with star Tom Holland and director Jon Watts. Per studio embargo policy, I’ll tell you what we talked about closer to the July 2017 release date.

Last night’s scene in downtown Atlanta filmed right next to where the bombastic opening scenes in “Captain America: Civil War” filmed. Remember the building in “Lagos” that explodes? That’s it on the left.

Filming for “Spider-Man” concluded at this location last night. The movie, with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey, has also filmed at area locations including Grady High School. Like “Ant-Man,” “Captain America” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” before it, is headquartered at Pinewood Studios in Fayette County.

Over the next year Marvel has a number of other projects scheduled to film in Atlanta: “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Black Panther” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”
