Celebrity makeup artist shares her ghostly encounter

Nikole Pettus is Atlanta’s makeup artist to the stars. She’s glammed up A-listers like Liam Hemsworth, Naomie Harris, Viola Davis or Brad Pitt during their promotional tours here. She also does bridal makeup, and it was during one such gig that she had a creepy encounter with an unofficial wedding guest no one could see.

Hear her story and others in the latest episode of the AJC’s new podcast, “Spooked,” narrated by Mark Davis with music from Kevin MacLeod’s terrific royalty-free music library at incompetech.com.

All of the episodes are available at this link on iTunes, and we also have them posted for you below. If you have a story to share, email us at jbrett@ajc.com or mrdavis@ajc.com.

In our previous episode: Atlanta History Center interpreter Kate Kovach never believed in ghosts, but can’t explain what happened that night in a graveyard in Scotland. Sisters Cheryl Robards and Kelly Alanis of Newnan were visiting their grandmother in the hospital when they ran into another elderly lady who made a mysterious vanishing act. Author Lauretta Hannon of Powder Springs received a touching visit from her dad, years after he died.

In this episode, Olla Woods of Atlanta is on her way to the market when she steps off the curb and into something that leaves her shaken. Anne Hall of Canton had two great aunts, a nurse named Flora and a schoolteacher named Mary. Seems they were determined to keep house as they see fit, even after they died. Martha Jo Katz and her husband Jerry of east Cobb enjoyed a wonderful stay in a historic hotel – but who else shared their room?

In our first episode, Gary Cox of Benteen Park talks about the home he shares with his dog Honey, and someone else: a being he calls Steve the Ghost. Will Gara of Grant Park reveals the shadowy figure he sometimes sees in the doorway, who always seems to bring bad luck. And Nadia Lelutiu of Tucker remembers the house where she’d hear “Mommy, mommy!” and the patter of little feet running up and down the hall – when her son was fast asleep.
