Trump: “Hamilton” is “highly overrated”

President-elect Donald Trump continues to rant against “Hamilton,” calling the Tony, Grammy and Pulitzer-winning production (which is sold out through at least August of next year) “highly overrated.”

UPDATE: Mike Pence says he enjoyed “Hamilton” and was not offended

Trump started complaining on Twitter after Vice President-elect Mike Pence took in a performance and was booed. Afterward, the cast addressed him directly.

“We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,”actor Brandon Victor Dixon said, reading from prepared remarks. “We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf all of us. All of us.”

The show later posted the entire statement:

While Pence didn’t respond publicly, Trump did in signature style, tweeting “Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!”

He later added, “The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!”
