Time has announced its 2017 Person of the Year.
It’s not just one person.
The magazine is honoring those who broke the silence.
“The women and men who have broken their silence span all races, all income classes, all occupations and virtually all corners of the globe,” its article announcing the choice reads. “They might labor in California fields, or behind the front desk at New York City’s regal Plaza Hotel, or in the European Parliament. They’re part of a movement that has no formal name. But now they have a voice.”
Recently announced finalists included President Donald Trump, who tweeted that he’d passed on the honor (Time said that was incorrect), along with Colin Kaepernick. Kim Jong Un. and director Patty Jenkins. See all of the finalists here.
